Vanessa Rousso: Who is she? |
How much do you know about Vanessa Rousso? Probably not a lot, though in recent years, she's become one of the hottest female players on the pro poker circuit. (She's not too bad looking either). As a winner of more than $1.2 million in lifetime winnings, including several final tables in WPT and WSOP events, Rousso is someone you should know about.
If you missed Poker After Dark last week, you missed Vanessa taking down a table including Gus Hansen and Jen Harmon, but this certainly isn't the first appearance of Ms. Rousso in the poker world. By now she's already amassed over $1.2 million in winnings, which is an accomplishment for a player of either sex.

Supposedly she's dating fellow poker pro Chad Brown right now, which might bum some people out, as she's certainly a catch. Not only can she plays cards, but she was her high school valedictorian and she has a degree in political science from Duke and she's currently in law school. She picked up high stakes tournament poker during her spring break.
Ouch.

Here's an interesting reveal via Wikipedia as to how Rousso went out of the PokerStars World Championship of Online Poker, which she placed third in:
"Three handed, with blinds 125,000/250,000, ka$ino on the button with 9♠ 2♠ raises 380,000, the small blind TheV0id folds and is called by LadyMaverick (Rousso) in the big blind holding 3♣ 6♣ with 7,909,864 in chips, the flop brings 10♠ 3♦ 6♥ giving Rousso two pair, sixes and threes, ka$ino only held nine high, Rousso checks and ka$ino makes a continuation bet of 880,000 and is flat called by Rousso, the turn came the 7♠, Rousso trapping checks her two pair, ka$ino still with only nine high but now with a flush draw checks and takes a free card, the river brought the J♠ that completed ka$ino draw for a Jack high flush. Rousso then leadout with a bet of 2,000,000, ka$ino with the winning hand and the chip lead with over 36,000,000 in chips reraises all-in and was called by Rousso eliminating her in third place. Her opponent ka$ino was later eliminated holding A♣ K♦ after being out drawn by TheV0id holding K♠ Q♥ who made a King high straight. Later TheV0id was disqualified resulting in everyone in the event moving up one place."

You can play online with Rousso at PokerStars, where she is a team member, or probably also in many major upcoming poker tournaments in the US and France, of which she is dual citizens. |
