Here’s a list of seventeen things NOT to do if you happen to end up on the telly.

The Continuation Bet: Is It Always Right?
The World of Poker
Monday, 17 March 2008

The continuation bet has long been considered one of the staples of aggressive poker. You make a raise preflop, it is checked to you on the flop, you should “always” bet out against your opponent yes? Generally it is good advice, because in the average poker pot against an average player, continuation betting is going to work and you’ll pick up the hand whether you improve or not. However, in certain situations, and if used too predictably, continuation betting can not only be unprofitable, it can be ‘incorrect’ poker.

New Rules for 2008 World Series of Poker
The World of Poker
Friday, 14 March 2008
In anticipation of the upcoming 2008 World Series of Poker, the tournament directors at Harrah’s Entertainment recently announced some new and slightly edited rules that will be put into effect this year. Many of them are fairly routine, but some, including one I’d like to consider the HEVAD KHAN clause, as well as some minor edits to some of the more publicly debated rules.

Poker Hand: Slippery Slopes
The World of Poker
Wednesday, 12 March 2008
I hadn’t played in cash games online in the past few months: I’d been taking a break from them in the name of focusing on MTTs and sit-n-gos, building my bankroll slowly and without big swings rather than the more sporadic online cash game action. I had a pretty decent couple hour session, 2.5x my buyin after about 90 minutes, but I tend to focus more on the little mistakes I make rather than the good plays. Here’s one particular hand where I tripped up a little and cost myself a small pot, but one that can perhaps serve as an example to a whole style of small errors you see rather frequently.

Favorite Poker Hands
The World of Poker
Monday, 10 March 2008
Everybody’s got their favorite poker hands for various reasons. Some of the more favorite smart aleck answers are “I liked aces” and “I like whatever wins the pot,” but besides these two little hee-haws, I usually find it pretty interesting to hear what hands people like and why, though a lot of the time the ‘why’ equates to: I got lucky with it once and ever since then I kept on going.

Poker Player Profile: Ted Forrest
The World of Poker
Saturday, 08 March 2008
If there’s ever been a pro poker player who can truly be known as ‘unpredictable,’ I think that Ted Forrest just might be above them all. Ted Forrest, to my knowledge, does not have a ‘poker nickname.’ This is somehow an important asset in the considerations. Ted Forrest does not need a nickname because he is Ted Forrest. Literally capable of playing any two cards from any positions, Ted Forrest can shift gears so quickly that just when you think you’ve pegged him, he’ll be so far around the bend that you won’t have time to blink.
