Lots of people when they sign on to play at whatever site they like to use, if they're playing cash games, will scan down the list of available tables and either jump on the first nearly full but open game, or put their name on the waiting list of any that are short. I've found, however, that there are a number of criteria to selecting the most profitable online game. |

It is often the case, especially when playing with relative newbies or people who don't think that much about their game, that people push way too hard with their hands preflop when face a raise and/or a reraise. Looking down and seeing pocket 10's or AK to many players means they are getting all in, regardless of what's happened before them. |

Obviously the major difference between playing a live cash game and online poker comes down to playing against people you can not see. All that you have to go by is which of the small array of avatars the person picked (which by and large means nothing) and whatever speech the person types (which is often nothing as well). |

I used to love nothing more on television than watching poker. I could watch the same broadcasts five or ten times without losing interest. There was interesting play and strong formats used on shows like World Poker Tour and the World Series. I think we've hit a rut. |

There's nothing that irritates me more than having to sit at a table and listen to the donkey whine and berate the dealer for making him go broke. As if the dealer is somehow, in his shuffling, orchestrating the cards to kill you, and as if he's the one making you put your money in the pot. |

So you look down and see that pretty ace and the card that comes with it happens to match in suit. Yes, you're rolling out with the Ace Six of hearts and there's a raise in front of you for 5x the big blind, and that's not so much is it? A suited ace? You call. But in the long run, you're going to get slammed playing such a hand. |

There are basically, often, two types of players among those who do not switch up their styles: those who bet "on the come" (when they are drawing and have not yet made their hand), and those who check and call to try to hit. There are a variety of situations that make either play profitable, and so a good player should be able to switch between the two. |
