Somehow I missed earlier this year when 19-year old Annette Obrestad simultanesouly became the youngest ever bracelet winner, the biggest female prizewinner in WSOP history, and the first female to ever win an $10,000+ buy-in event.
It was back in September when Ms. Annette Obrestad, a meager 19 year-old, took down the European WSOP after winning heads up with John Tabatatai in a 5 day event.
The final hand of the match ended in a ball-bruiser, when Obrestad flopped top set of 7's against Tabatatai's two pair of 6's and 5's. The young lady reportedly couldn't help from letting the tears fly as she became a major turnbuckle in the history of tournament poker.
The payouts for the final table were as follows:
1 - Annette Obrestad - £1,000,000
2 - John Tabatabai - £570,150
3 - Matthew McCullough - £381,910
4 - Oyvind Riisem - £257,020
5 - Johannes Korsar - £191,860
6 - Dominic Kay - £152,040
7 - Magnus Persson - £114,030
8 - Theo Jorgensen - £85,070
9 - James Keys - £61,540
I'd like to see more coverage of the European WSOP in the future. I'm not sure why it isn't been televised also to make up for the lack of poker TV that follows after our American WSOP. Someone should just on the boat and get that televised somewhere for our viewing pleasure. |
