High Stakes Poker Blow Out |
Beginning this week, the rest of the 4th season of High Stakes Poker on GSN will be featuring the largest televised cash game of all time, with a mandatory $500,000 buy-in for their no limit cash game.
High Stakes Poker has already proven itself to be the most entertaining poker programming on TV, where we can see real pros playing for their own money in a $300/$600 blind no limit event. We've seen some pretty enormous buyins from certain players, including Daniel Negreanu's $1 million, and so on. But now, beginning with their November broadcasts, the game will feature a min buy-in of a whopping $500k per player.
The players shown in the first episode of this caliber are a pretty sick crew: Doyle Brunson, Sammy Farha, Barry Greenstein, David Benyamine, Antonio Esfandiari, Jamie Gold, Daniel Negreanu, Patrik Antonious, and Guy Laliberte (the owner of Cirque de Soleil). You can only imagine the kind of fireworks we're going to see as the episodes progress.
I, for one, am personally randy to watch the surely impending demise of Jamie Gold. Judging by his awful play on last season's episodes, wherein he manages to donk around like the true donk he is, we're most likely going to see some absolutely sick blow ups. Should be great feel good comeuppance for his runaway luck at the WSOP.
I'm also intersted in seeing how Farha's game changes when he's playing for that much rather than his usual $100k buyin at the table. I'm wondering if he's going to play as loose as he usually does with that much at stakes, or if he will adapt to the settings.
Either way, it should be a fantastic broadcast. You can watch the show on Monday nights at 9 PM on GSN, with replays on Saturdays at 7 PM and Wednesday nights at 2 AM. |
