Huge Online Pots
So obviously there have been some big pots played in the world of online poker, but just how big do these pots tend to get? Recently, Phil Ivey and Finnish player Ilari "Ziigmund" Sahamies made the record books last week by playing the 6th biggest pot online ever during their heads up pot limit omaha match.

Phil Ivey and Ziigmund had sat down to a heads up pot limit omaha game on Full Tilt Poker where for a while they traded blows. They had blinds set at the highest possible level for this particular online site, $500/$1000.

The first major pot that came alond occurred when a river card made Ivey a straight and Ziigmund a flush simultaneously, a beat lost Ivey a pot worth $212,988.

Another pot, featuring a flop of 9/10/K of spades, ended up breaking Ivey even though he held the nut flush, as Ziigmund flopped the straight flush with the QJ of spades in his hand. That pot lost Ivey right around $104,000, and lucky for him he didn't have more as a nonpaired board would have most likely made him give away anything else he had in hand.

The sixth biggest pot of all time, though, took place when on a flop of 9 9 2, Ziigmund once again owned over Ivey by flopping the boat with 22 in his pocket, while Ivey had the 9. When the board paired deuces on the turn, giving Ziigmund quads and Ivey the nut boat, they ended up all in right then and there, leaving Ziigmund to take down a pot worth $314,000.

If that's the sixth biggest pot ever, then what beats it, you might wonder? Well, the highest pot of all time according the record books belongs to a player with the screen name Fast_Freddie (is this Deeb?). Deeb showed up in the big blind with AJ suited in spades at a heads up table against bad_ip. When the flop came AA7 (two clubs), the players raised and reraised, as they also did on the turn when a blank hit. The river, a scary K of clubs, helped bad_ip push the rest of his chips in and Fast_freddie made an excellent call to which bad_ip mucked his hand. Freddie ended up taking down a pot of $465,451 with his trip aces, and so far the biggest pot ever played in online poker history.
