Poker After Dark Kicks Off New Episodes |
It’s been a minute since fans of NBC’s hit late-night poker TV show POKER AFTER DARK aired a new one recently: the first season ended with a pretty strong string of week-long tournaments amongst a rotating series of themed evenings with popular poker pros. If anyone was wondering if this show might go the way of the buffalo, let your suspicions lay easy, Poker After Dark returns this week on Tuesday March 25 2008 at 2:05 am on NBC with a brand new tourney and a slightly skewed transmission, though still with the endless Shana Hiatt.
Poker After Dark makes its return with a new “Jam Up Week,” featuring six regular faces we’ve seen on a variety of episodes. This set will feature some of the more’loose-aggressive’ players competing for a prize pool of $140k rather than the usual $120k, the difference of which will supposedly be accounted to a strange streak in the early action. Though you’ll have tune in to see what happens.
The other catch is that this group features 5 out of 6 players who’ve never won during any of their appearances on the show.
BARRY GREENSTEIN
0-2 on Poker after Dark
ELI ELEZRA
0-1
DAVID WILLIAMS
0-1
ANTONIO ESFANDIARI
0-3
MIKE MATUSOW
0-7
(Hold up a minute there, Mikey. Relax.)
The only player who’s managed to win at all is the 6th participant:
HOWARD LEDERER
2-2, with a 50% win rate, which out of a table of 6 is a pretty nice feat.
For those of you confused as to why this is beginning on “Tuesday,” please realize that it’s 2 AM on Tuesday, so if you’re up late on Monday, it will be on at 2:05 AM on NBC as usual.
On Saturday night (well, technically Sunday morning), they’ll also do the usual week wrap up at 1 AM.
Should be a good little series and hopefully another good season of Poker After Dark for all us late night owls who can’t seem to sleep.
