PokerStars Signs Gavin Griffin & Chad Brown |
PokerStars and Full Tilt Poker have been in pretty deep battle over the past few years trying to sign a more celebrated roster of poker players. From PokerStars inking each World Series of Poker main event champion immediately after they win the title, to Full Tilt picking up almost every major ‘name’ player you can think of that doesn’t have their own pet project, you’ve got a pretty big variety of names trying to tug you to one site or the other. This past week, PokerStars added two new members to their roster: the on-fire Gavin Griffin and long time pro and actor Chad Brown.
Though Gavin Griffin has been known on the circuit for a while now, he recently made monstrous headlines in becoming the first player in history to win the ‘Triple Crown of Poker’. Taking down the WPT Borgata Poker Classic, followed by the PokerStars.com EPT Grand Final in Monte Carlo and a bracelet at the 2004 WSOP, Griffin is now the only player with bragging rights to all three major circuit titles.
Not to mention the fact that Griffin’s WSOP win made him the youngest player ever with a bracelet at the age of 22. Since then he’s won more than $4.5 million from poker alone.
Here he is discussing his win at the EPT Grand Final:

"This is the team I want to play with," said Griffin. “Team PokerStars Pro has nine other gold bracelet winners and the best online players in the world. I am proud to be a part of this line up”
“As the first ever player to win the Triple Crown of EPT, WSOP and WPT titles, I’m really looking forward to seeing Gavin defend his PokerStars EPT title against some of the world's best players in Monte Carlo next week,” said EPT Director John Duthie. “The PokerStars EPT Grand Final has a deserved reputation as being a showpiece poker tournament and given the high level of advance entries, I am confident this will be the biggest, richest and most competitive poker event ever staged in Europe."
Chad Brown has been acting for years and supplementing his acting income with his extreme poker talent. In 2006, he won over $450,000 in World Poker Tour events, as well as a ridiculous number of WSOP event final tables that have made him most known in the world of television poker.
Here’s a short list of some of Brown’s other accomplishments:
47 career cash finishes
Bluff magazine’s 2006 Player of the Year
2007 WSOP $5,000 No Limit 2-7 Draw Lowball event runner-up
2007 NBC National Heads-Up Championship runner-up
2006 $5,200 H.O.R.S.E. WCOP event
Ultimate Poker Challenge TV Host
"I'm ecstatic to be with Team PokerStars Pro," said Chad. "I am obviously familiar with the team from the tournament circuit and it’s great to be on a Team that includes legends like Daniel Negreanu and Joe Hachem. I am looking forward to winning a few bracelets and contributing to the team."
Griffin, known as ‘GavinGriffin’ and Brown, known as ‘ChadBrownPro’ on PokerStars.net, join a PokerStars Pro roster that includes such big names as Chris Moneymaker, Greg Raymer, Joe Hachem, Barry Greenstein, Isabelle Mercier, Daniel Negreanu, Vanessa Rousso, Bertrand Grospellier, Humberto Brenes and 14 others from around the world.
