Among all the hubbub over American poker law, there hasn't been a whole lot of talk to compare to policies in other countries. A look at the current state of home game law in Canada, though, may figure that many of our states don't have it as bad as we thought. |

A law put into effect earlier this June in the state of Washington made online gambling illegal for all. Though it didn't seem to have much resonance with the local players, it did have an untoward effect on a related type of poker entity: online gambling source websites. |

There seems to be a wide disparity as to the legality and/or penalties involved in playing at or running a poker home game. The penalties are of course more strict for those running the game, and most players caught in a bust situation would be get away with nothing more than a misdemeanor. |

Somehow I missed earlier this year when 19-year old Annette Obrestad simultanesouly became the youngest ever bracelet winner, the biggest female prizewinner in WSOP history, and the first female to ever win an $10,000+ buy-in event. |
